According to Iloilo City elections officer, Atty. Mavil Majarucon-Sia, there are approximately 800 Iloilo City inmates eligible to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, set to take place on Monday, May 13.
The Iloilo City Commission on Elections (Comelec) has since appointed special election boards to clustered precincts within the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facilities in the city.
Voting will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Earlier this month, Bacolod City Comelec supervisor, Atty. Ann Janette Lamban, around 1,000 inmates of the MBDJ facilities in the Bacolod City Barangays Handumanan and Taculing will be permitted to vote in the upcoming midterm elections./WDJ
