The Negros Occidental Provincial Government is preparing sanctions against Francisco Nuñal, an employee of the Negros Occidental Provincial Accounting Office, who, alongside Waren Abalos and Marvic Diolay, was recently arrested in a police operation after the suspects handed over one sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P500.
According to acting Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, Provincial Human Resource Management head, Atty. Annabelle Palic, is currently preparing sanctions against the same employee, which may lead to dismissal or removal from service.
“If the said employee [tests] negative for use of illegal drugs, he will be advised to undergo drug rehabilitation at his own expense,” Gelvolea explained. “That is regardless of the charges hurled against him by the police.”
Police Station 7 commander, Police Major Sherlock Gabana, said the station considers both Alabos and Nuñal as high-value drug targets.
Last March, two Negros Occidental provincial government employees who had previously tested positive for drugs quit their posts.
Gelvolea said the two have “already [been] dealt with accordingly.”/DGB, WDJ
