Truck carrying vote counting machines crashes in Cauayan
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
A truck carrying vote counting machines for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) crashed in Cauayan yesterday morning.
In a radio interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, Comelec-Sipalay City registrar Jesusa Paler said the truck was bound for Sipalay City and Hinoba-an.
The Comelec official noted, prior to the incident, local rain showers may have left the road slippery, which could have contributed to the accident.
Another truck was immediately sent by the Comelec, which retrieved the machines.
While authorities did not see any noticeable damage to the machines, they will only know if there are issues once final testing and sealing takes place prior to election day.
The Comelec assured, if the vote counting machines are damaged, they are prepared with a contingency plan./DGB, WDJ
