Negros experienced three earthquakes over the weekend.
The first tremor, measuring 2.4 in magnitude, struck south of Valencia, Negros Oriental around 1:11 a.m. on Saturday morning; that evening, around 9:11 p.m., a 2.1-magnitude quake struck north of Basay, also in Negros Oriental; while the third was felt around 2:03 a.m. yesterday morning south of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental when a 2.4-magnitude earthquake was detected.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, no damages were reported nor were there aftershocks expected.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
