The 4th Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) Cup is scheduled to begin towards the end of this month, May 29, and is expected to be the largest turnout for the tournament yet with 24 squads from across the country and an estimated 500 players anticipated for the annual competition.
“We aspire to provide our young players with the opportunity to develop their skills and elevate the level of football in our country,” explained NOFA President Ricky Yanson. “By imparting discipline through sports to these youngsters, we will be able to develop good players and better persons on and off the pitch.”
The tournament is comprised of teams each fielding nine players at the Sta. Maria Field in Talisay City.
Among the squads expected to join the competition include the Marawi Ground Zero Team, who will be making their debut at this year’s NOFA Cup.
The tournament runs until June 2./WDJ
