According to Bacolod City Commission on Elections (Comelec) supervisor, Atty. Ann Janette Lamban, around 1,000 inmates of the Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ) facilities in the Bacolod City Barangays Handumanan and Taculing will be permitted to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

The Comelec will deploy one representative to each jail facility in order to supervise voting.

Lamban noted, inmates underwent seminars related to the election.

Data released by the Comelec-Bacolod reported around 600 MBDJ-Handumanan inmates have cast ballots.

Absentee voting for Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office personnel began towards the end of last month and closed earlier this week.

Under Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10443, government officials and employees, including members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, who are registered to vote may cast ballots for national positions in places where they are not registered but have been assigned to conduct election day duties./DGB, WDJ
