Calls for prayer following earthquakes is problematic

“…Those who listen to my Word and fulfill them are…wise… People who listen to my Word but do not obey them are… fools…” –Matthew 7:24, 26

We are again witnessing a prayer revival. With the recent earthquakes, people are asking each other to pray – prayers don’t work that way. Jesus said: “Not all who pray and not all who call on Him will have their prayers or pleas answered.” Why? Read the Bible.

Many people who claim to be Christians believe this country has become a laughing stock. The only time these “believers” remember to pray is during calamity. If there were no calamities, no one cares about God.

Yet, many of these “believers” expect God to listen and answer their prayers even if they only remember Him when problems, natural or man-made, make life difficult.

Their real problem is that God is a just God. God knows who truly obey His commands and it is only the prayers of these faithful that are answered.

Many Christians in this country are sporting fake or spurious faith. While they continue to profess their belief in God, they could not be seen listening, reading, or knowing the word of God – even worse, they rarely obey God’s commands (if ever).

Whether they are aware of it or not, many are living with a lie from the devil, where believers no longer need to know what God’s commands are, which means there is no need for them to read the Bible anymore. They say it should be enough if believers pray or just believe in God.

How can a believer truly say they believe in God if they do not know the commands? If a believer does not know what God wants of them, can they really call themselves a “follower of God?”

People who say is it okay to pray in times of desperation do not have the truth; especially the truth which says “not all who pray nor who cry ‘my God, my God’ would have their prayers favorably answered by God.” God’s favorable answer has a condition that those seeking his assistance must meet.

During a recent gathering of the Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ Church, or the Simbahang Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (AND KNK), it was shown how God normally answers and grants prayers. The believer must be knowledgeable of the word of God and sincerely obey the word. Listening to the Word of God and carefully obeying everything that is written is the secret to receiving God’s favorable response.

Believers must strive to know the word of God and obey His commands to enable blessings, guidance, and protection.
