Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) and De La Salle University (DLSU) both notched sweeping wins in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball season earlier this week at the San Juan Arena. AdMU defeated Adamson University defeated 25-16, 28-25, 25-17; while DLSU beat the University of the East 25-17, 25-16, 25-19.
Kat Tolentino top-scored for AdMU with 17 points; while co-captain Madeleine Madayag added 13 points from nine attacks, three blocks, and an ace.
After easily winning the first set, AdMU encountered trouble in the second frame, which Adamson nearly snatch away at 24-23; however, hits from Madayag and Pauline Gaston took the set for Ateneo.
AdMU regained its form in the third as it cruised to a 20-15 advantage allowing Ateneo head coach Oliver Almandro to insert rookies Jaja Maraguinot, Erika Raagas, and Vannie Gandler to finish the match.
After their wins, AdMU currently carries an 11-2 record, while DLSU sits at 10-3./ASC, WDJ
