The PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters relied on its blocking to score a 25-15, 25-20, 24-26, 25-27, 15-12 win over the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers recently in their 2019 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix Conference quarterfinal match at the San Juan Arena. The win sealed the last semifinal slot for PLDT.
Kendra Dahlke delivered 33 kills and four blocks to finish with 37 points for PLDT, while Grace Lazard scored 17 kills and seven blocks for a 25-point effort, Aiko Urdas put up 16 points, and Lizlee Pantone contributed 20 digs.
Trailing 4-0 early in the fifth set, PLDT clawed its way back behind four blocks by Lazard to take a 7-6 edge. Kanjana Kuthaisong of Generika-Ayala then forced a 12-all deadlock before PLDT took a 14-12 edge on hits by Dahlke and Lazard.
Dahlke finished the match with a powerful hit from the middle. Generika-Ayala tried contesting the play; however, the challenge system ruled in favor of PLDT.
The semifinal are set to begin on Tuesday, April 23, where PLDT meets the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and Petron Blaze Spikers face the Cignal HD Spikers./ASC, WDJ
