The University of Santo Tomas (UST) made quick work of Far Eastern University (FEU) last Sunday night with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 win in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball season at the at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Both teams have already qualified for the “Final 4,” alongside Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University.

Cherry Rondina tallied 21 points on 17 attacks, three service aces, and a block for UST; while Ejiya Laure added 17 markers.

After trailing early in the first set, UST leaned on Laure and Ysa Jimenez to earn a 16-11 lead. FEU rallied and trimmed their deficit to 24-23 before Rondina closed the set with a crosscourt hit.

From a slow start in the second set, UST surged to a 19-12 lead with hits from Laure and Mary Pacres. FEU attempted another run but could only come to within six points.

UST opened the third set strong and established a 20-14 lead but FEU clawed their way back to take a 22-20 edge before Rondina and Laure put up the last five points to take the set./ASC, WDJ
