De La Salle University (DLSU) completed a 25-17, 25-13, 25-23 sweep of Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) last Saturday in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball season at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jolina Dela Cruz led the win with 14 points, while Lourdes Clemente and Ilongga Aduke Ogunsanya each managed to score 10.

Both teams traded early hits in the first set with DLSU clinging to a 14-13 lead before unloading a huge 11-4 run, keeping AdMU at bay, and taking a 1-0 set edge.

DLSU continued the momentum in the second set as it established an 18-8 advantage with conversions from Dela Cruz and Clemente while AdMU struggled to make decent shots.

AdMU showed some life in the third set as it turned a 12-6 deficit into a one point gap, down 22-21. However, an overreaching violation by AdMU, a Clemente running tip, and an Ogunsanya slide sealed the win for DLSU./ASC, WDJ
