The Victorias City government yesterday received two new rescue vehicles, along with equipment for their local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO).
Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca said the vehicles, which comprise of one ambulance and one rescue support truck, were donated after signing a memorandum of understanding with Nanjo City, which is located in Okinawa Prefecture in Japan.
Also included in the turnover were two hydraulic rescue tools, commonly known as the “jaws of life,” which are used to pry open vehicle wreckage and free trapped people.
Meanwhile, Fire Lieutenant Isao Henna of the Shimajiri Fire Station trained DRRMO personnel on how to use their newly-acquired equipment.
Palanca said the project is a salute to the friendship between both cities and they are looking forward to a “generational continuance of relationship.”/DGB, WDJ
