The Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) team earned two bronze medals at the 16th Uni-Orient Cup, which took place over the weekend at the San Beda University gymnasium.
The LOPTTA elementary boys’ team, composed of Anton Andre Bayona, John Belzunce, Joaquin Bragancia, and Franz Jedriek Geganto, finished in third place after losing to the Palarong Pambansa team representing the National Capital Region.
In addition, the LOPTTA high school girls’ team, comprised of Micah Tanate, Ayumi Iida, and Glieza Shane Marie Cordova, also finished in third place, falling to the St. Martin Montesorri School-Manila.
Meanwhile, LOPTTA coach Marell Lagunday-Alvarez competed in the women’s singles tournament but lost in the quarterfinals to Kheith Rhynne Cruz.
Earlier this year, Lagunday-Alvarez won at the 9th Flexible Cup International Table Tennis Championship at Harrison Plaza in Manila.
She captured the veterans title and won bronze in the women’s open./WDJ
