Amid recent sporadic rains across the region, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) head Zeaphard Caelian yesterday confirmed the summer heat is “still on.”
He attributed the recent precipitation on a surface trough, which is an area of low pressure that often indicative of atmospheric changes and can result in stormy weather.
Despite the rains, Caelian affirmed they are just passing weather conditions and the summer heat will resume.
“The province is among the areas that experiences weak El Niño, which means below normal rainfall is expected,” he explained.
El Niño is expected to end next month.
Caelian added, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has already officially declared that the summer heat is underway./DGB, WDJ
