Marañon on his legacy: Making
the Panaad Festival profitable
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
Outgoing Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. yesterday said his legacy includes making the Panaad sa Negros Festival a profitable entity.
“It has grown in the last six years,” he said.
The governor said the trend is “sustainable,” noting, income has grown by 20 percent annually.
“Visitors are many and many products sold,” Marañon added.
After earlier expressing intentions to make Panaad sa Negros Festival booths open year-round, the governor said some localities confirmed they would keep their pavilions open all year.
In addition, the organic market will also be open year round.
“This is good for the farmers, businessmen, and employment,” the governor explained. “I am encouraging all farmers, entrepreneurs, and producers to join [and] sell their products at Panaad.”/DGB, WDJ
