Lacson vows to continue livestock program

Incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday vowed, if elected governor, he would continue the province’s livestock and dairy program, a project implemented by outgoing Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.
The vice governor faces Dacongcogon Farmers Producers Cooperative chair, Atty. Rolando Parpa, in this year’s governor’s race.
During the opening of the annual Panaad sa Negros Festival, he also promised to maintain the “Lechonaad,” which features lechon prepared by various hog-raising groups from across the province.
Lacson called both events “highlights” of the festival.
Meanwhile, Marañon, who also took part in the opening rites, discussed the importance of the local hog-farming sector, pointing out, it is currently the second-largest industry in the country after rice./DGB, WDJ
