A suspect wanted for murder was arrested late Sunday afternoon, along with a friend, after police caught them using illegal drugs at Crossing Dulong, on Kabankalan City’s Barangay Hilamonan.

Police identified the suspects as 28-year-old Joan Dela Torre, a resident of the said area; and 42-year-old Gregnar Dormido, a resident of Barangay Pinaguinpinan also in the said city.

Information forwarded by the Kabankalan City Police Station said authorities visited the area to serve an arrest warrant to Dela Torre on murder charges.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Renato Muñez of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 60 in Cadiz City.

However, as they proceeded to serve the warrant, police found the two engaging in illegal drug use.

Police confiscated five sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

The value of the illicit substance was estimated at P8,000.

Both suspects are now detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
