Passi City siblings dominate Visayas leg

Siblings Rolando, Ruslan, and King Lanz Pamplona of Passi City, Iloilo each recently won their respective divisions of the 2019 National Youth and Schools Chess Championships-Visayas leg, which took place over the weekend at the Ayala Capitol Central Mall in Bacolod City.

Rolando Pamplona III won the Under-7 boys’ category, Ruslan Pamplona captured the Under-9 division, and King Lanz Pamplona took home the title in the Under-11 boys’ category.

Meanwhile, their sister Queen Rose Pamplona took second place in the Under-13 girls’ division.

In other competitions, Jave Mareck Pateros won the U-13 boys’ division and Jerish John Velarde captured the Under-`5 boys’ division./MB, WDJ

The Pamplona siblings of Passi City, Iloilo, who either took home titles or placed during the recent 2019 National Youth and Schools Chess Championships-Visayas leg at the Ayala Capitol Central Mall in Bacolod City, along with other winners, Jave Mareck Pateros and Jerish John Velarde, are shown with Negros Island Professionals Chess Association chief Stella Mar Abanco; Leo Romitman; and Executive Chess Association president, Dr. Jenny Mayor.
