Ceres-Negros FC hopes to expand their lead atop Group G in the ongoing 2019 AFC Cup group stage when they meet defending Liga 1 champions Persija Jakarta of Indonesia tonight at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The Negrense club currently leads the group with six points following two wins, while the Indonesian outfit sits in second place on four points.
“We have to control everything and we have to be focused,” said Ceres midfielder Bienvenido Marañón. “If other teams will try to target me, there [are] many good players that we have and they can do a good job.”
Meanwhile, Ceres-Negros FC head coach Risto Vidaković said, despite their 2-0 record, the club has experienced difficulty in the competition as they have yet to kick off this year’s domestic league.
“It [is] very hard for us because it is still preseason and we [have not played] a competitive game for two weeks,” he explained.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will air live on 5Plus and Fox Sports 2./ASC, WDJ
