Seminar held for local police on environmental law

The Negros Occidental Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) recently held a seminar for police personnel from across the province on environmental law and implementation.

Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Edgardo Rostata led the event by encouraging those present to “equip and empower themselves” with the information learned during the training.

Also presenting during the seminar were Negros Occidental PENRO Enforcement Section chief Remia Buaron, who discussed salient provisions on rules and regulations pertaining to forestry laws; Engr. Arnel Angelo Oralde discussed RA 7942, or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995; and Engr. Eriberto Madalag of the Provincial Environment Management Office spoke on additional policies.

There were also presentations on biodiversity and wildlife laws, along with sand gravel extraction regulations./WDJ
