Barangay Singcang clinched the crown in the Congressman Greg Gasataya Basketball League Inter-barangay Open Category after a 71-63 win over Barangay Sum-ag in Game 2 of the best-of-three finals at STI-West Negros University Gym.
Jan Nermal led the way with 29 points while Louie Badilles added 9 markers for back-to-back champions Singcang, which also won the Game 1 of the series last week, 75-73.
Singcang showed its determination to finish off their opponent after erecting a 25-19 first quarter lead that later went up to as high as 46-26 at the half behind the hot shooting of Nermal.
Sum-ag, however, did not easily gave up as it mounted a huge rally to come to as close as 62-71 with over two minutes remaining before Singcang employed a tight defense forcing their opponents to misfire their shots.
Christopher Minguez top scored for Sum-ag with 24 points, while tournament Most Valuable Player Jeffrey Manday contributed 18 markers.
Singcang received the top prize of P100,000 while Sum-ag got P50,000 as the runner-up. Taculing, which defeated Cabug for third place, took home P30,000 while Cabug received P20,000./ASC,WDJ
