Traffic investigators from the Don Salvador Benedicto Police Station are now eyeing a possible brake failure as the reason behind the accident involving a Ceres bus liner, which claimed the lives of four people and injured eight others.

Police Chief Master Sgt. Art Sorita, based on a statement given by the bus driver Jescer Rasonable, said since the bus was heading down from a steep road, he tried to apply the brakes in order to slow down.

However, the brakes failed and Rasonable immediately informed the conductor and passengers to pray.

In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to hit the road barrier, but instead the bus continued to roll until it fell off from the 50-foot ravine.

Sorita added the families of the affected passengers have yet to decide whether they will file charges against Rasonable or Vallacar Transit, the operator of the bus unit.

Vallacar Transit Incorporated, meanwhile, has already given assistance to the victims of the accident./DGB, WDJ
