A Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) member in Negros Oriental was ambushed by motorcycle-riding suspects in Dumaguete City on Monday.

SP member Miguel Dungog died of a gunshot wound on the head, police said.

Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office director Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca said Dungog was walking on his way to Silliman University Medical Center when two armed men on board a motorcycle waylaid and shot him.

The police have yet to establish the motive in the incident.

Dungog is running as Board member of Negros Oriental’s 3rd District, allied with incumbent Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo.

The police were still locating the suspects, who fled after the shooting./DGB, WDJ
