The 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) called on the victims of rebel atrocities in Negros Island to surface and file charges against Ka Frank Fernandez, the National Democratic Front (NDF) spokesman who was arrested in Laguna last Sunday.
Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo, commander of the 303IB, yesterday said it is high time to file charges against Fernandez, whom he had been hunting since he was still a lieutenant in the Philippine Army.
Arevalo said a lot of innocent people were killed because of Fernandez, adding that he is not only an NDF spokesperson but also a leader of the NPA in Negros Island.
“He is the one who directly gave orders to the rebel combatants as to what they would attack and who they will ambush,” Arevalo said.
The 303IB commander also said the surviving families of those killed by the NPA in Negros should pursue justice for their loved ones.
Arevalo also identified Fernandez’ wife Cleofe as the No. 2 most wanted NPA leader in Negros.
He also ordered all Army units in Negros to continue pursuing rebels./DGB, WDJ
