House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is scheduled to visit Manapla on Monday to observe the 25-Megawatt (MW) Biomass Plant that is currently under construction.
Based on information provided by Arroyo’s staff to local media, the former president will visit following the Hugpong ng Pagbabago rally in Isabela.
The power plant is situated on 300,000-square meter piece of land, located at Hacienda Bariw in the town’s Barangay Sta. Teresa.
The facility, along with “sister plants” in La Carlota City and San Carlos City, once in operation, will have a total production of 70 MW of energy.
Earlier this year, Macapagal-Arroyo visited Bacolod City and announced intentions to revive and expand the nautical highway, or the Roll-on/Roll-off transport system, which she spearheaded during her tenure as president.
