DLSU men’s football team beats AdMU

De La Salle University (DLSU) ended the first round of 81st UAAP men’s football eliminations with a 2-1 victory over Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) last Thursday at the Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU-Diliman) pitch.

After Alfonso Montelibano converted two goals and goalkeeper Gab Villacin delivered a crucial save, DLSU secured solo second place with 12 points.

Montelibano found the back of the net off an assist from Negrense Shanden Vergara in the 13th minute. 11 minutes later, he doubled the lead with a header following a Jed Diamante free kick.

AdMU pulled one back courtesy of a header by Rupert Baña in the 26th minute.

Joaquin Roque nearly scored an equalizer in the 89th minute but Villacin foiled the attempt.

DLSU is currently three points behind first place FEU.

In the other match, Adamson University beat the University of the Philippines, 2-1./ASC, WDJ
