The Iloilo City Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently designated common poster areas where campaign materials can be posted ahead of this year’s midterm elections, scheduled to take place on May 13.
Each of the city’s districts has an assigned area.
In City Proper, posters may be displayed at the Plaza Libertad facing J.M. Basa Street; Arevalo – Rizal Street facing Iloilo Supermart and Arevalo Police Station, beside the Arevalo Gymnasium; Jaro – Jaro Plaza facing Ledi Supermarket and Andok’s Chicken; La Paz – Along Huervana Street and at the La Paz Police Station; Lapuz – Along Abanilla Street, in front of Jalandoni Memorial Elementary School; Mandurriao – Mandurriao Plaza facing 7-11; and Molo – Molo Plaza facing Molo Caltex Station and at The Mansion along Locsin Street.
“I would like to remind our local candidates that you must follow the rules,” advised Iloilo City Comelec Election Assistant Jonathan Sayno. “All campaign materials violating the common poster areas and sizes will be removed.”
The campaign period for local candidates begins on Friday, March 29./WDJ
