Manager: Kids were taught to have empathy for farmers

By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Bright Kids Preschool kindergarten students were recently taught about farming during the 6th anniversary observance of the Negros Farmers Weekend Market, which is located along Magsaysay Street in Bacolod City.
Market Manager Ruby Cruz said the head of the school initially wanted students to learn about entrepreneurship through selling vegetables but she suggested instilling the value of selling and teaching the youngsters to have empathy for farmers.
Cruz pointed out, the vegetables growing towards the rear of the weekend market were originally planted by the students last November and they returned during the anniversary to harvest their plants.
The market manager said they hope to add more vendors in the years to come./DGB, WDJ
