Valencia experiences second tremor this week
Seismic activity was detected across southern Negros yesterday morning as three earthquakes were recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The first quake was recorded west of Valencia just before 12:25 a.m., measuring 2.3 in magnitude. Last Monday, the Negros Oriental town was struck by an early morning 2.2-magnitude quake.
Meanwhile, around 1:40 a.m., a 2.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded south of Hinoba-an; and, at 3:31 a.m., a 1.9-magnitude tremor was recorded south of Sipalay City.
Subsequent Phivolcs bulletins reported no damage as a result of any of the tremors, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
