As part of the city’s National Women’s Month observance, which is celebrated throughout March, the Dumaguete City Local Council on Women (LCW) wants to improve and enhance the skills of those working at Violence Against Women Desk.

Such facilities are available at city barangays and, according to LCW Chair Rosalinda Abellon, the organization would like to see staff better equipped to handle female survivors of gender-based violence.

Tomorrow, an orientation on RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004; RA 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act; along with HIV/AIDS issues will be held at the Women’s Center Building, located along Rizal Boulevard.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City kicked off their National Women’s Month observance last week, with various programs scheduled including self-defense training, Zumba, and training on the “Kasambahay Law.”/WDJ
