The University of Santo Tomas (UST) scored a 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 sweep over De La Salle University (DLSU) in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball season last Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.

Cherry Rondina led UST with 19 points, including 17 attacks; while rookie Ejiya Laure added 15 markers.

UST jumped to an early 11-3 lead in the first set but DLSU mounted a run to come to within 13-12. UST gained its ground behind Rondina and Laure to take the set.

Both teams engaged in a tight exchange in the second frame with the score tied at 22-all but DLSU committed three consecutive errors allowing UST to take a 2-0 lead.

DLSU went up early in the third period but UST quickly erased it and built a 16-12 edge. Their lead grew as wide as 22-14 with the DLSU committing errors./ASC, WDJ
