SM Foundation Inc. has begun the reviewing and screening process of scholarship applicants for the 2019/2020 academic year and held an event at SM City Bacolod yesterday.

A total of 200 applicants took a qualifying examination and those who pass will be interviewed and scheduled for a home visit.

Applicants must be a graduating public high school student (or from a private senior high school with a Department of Education voucher), attain a weighted average of 88 percent by the second or third grading period, with a household annual income of P150,000 or less.

The SM Foundation scholarship is accepted at over 80 partner institutions, including Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, University of St. La Salle, and Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas.

Qualified students can utilize the scholarship for bachelor’s degree programs in computer science, information technology, information management, engineering (electronics and communications, computer, civil, electrical, and mechanical), elementary education, secondary education, and accountancy.

In addition, qualified students are eligible for a monthly allowance and, for those from areas where there is an SM mall location, an opportunity for seasonal employment.

A final list of scholars is expected by next month./WDJ
