Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. led the Field Day and Harvest Festival yesterday at Sitio Camingawan, located in Bago City’s Barangay Taloc.
The event highlighted mechanized farming with Bago City earlier identified as a pilot area for the Farm Mechanization Program.
The event was organized by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, National Irrigation Administration-Bago City, National Food Authority, Philippine Rice Research Institute, Land Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, and food security firm Bayer CropScience.
The governor, who previously lauded the potential for farm mechanization, said equipment like combine harvesters save time, makes work faster and easier, and increases production.
Also present for the event were Provincial Board Member Victor Javellana; Provincial Consultant Rafael Coscolluela; Provincial Agriculturist, Atty. Japhet Masculino; among others./WDJ
