The second victim in the deadly crash in Bacolod City’s Barangay Bata involving a van and a parked tricycle has succumbed to his injuries.

Police Station 3 (PS3) traffic investigator, Police Staff Sergeant Eliseo Adraneda, clarified the incident took place in the vicinity of Barangay Bata and not in Talisay City as originally reported.

Adraneda said 50-year-old Hernanie Dullar of Barangay Zone 15, Talisay City, died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital due to multiple injuries.

The investigator said the van, which was driven by 35-year-old Paul Pentillo, suffered a brake malfunction, which ultimately caused the crash.

Adraneda said Pentillo was released yesterday after no charges were filed.

The police official also said the van’s owner, which was identified as the L’Fisher Hotel, sent a representative to their station and expressed a willingness to provide assistance for the victims.

Last Monday, Dullar and 71-year-old Edgar Panes were talking by the roadside when a van slammed into Panes’ motorcycle.

The force of the impact damaged the front part of the van, while the tricycle was totally wrecked, leaving it almost unrecognizable.

Panes was later declared dead on arrival following the accident./DGB, WDJ
