The family of a motorcyclist is appealing for help in identifying the driver of a black pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of Lizares and Lacson Streets in Bacolod City’s Barangay 40.

Police identified the fatality as 52-year-old Willy Bolinas, a resident of the said city.

Police Station 6 (PS6) commander, Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, said, early Sunday morning, Bolinas was heading towards the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, when a pickup truck slammed into his motorcycle.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) video footage captured the incident, showing the pickup travelling at a high-rate of speed before slamming into the motorcycle.

It also showed the pickup truck speeding off, leaving Bolinas by the roadside.

Bystanders rushed Bolinas to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.

The police official added, they are presently coordinating with CDRRMO for additional footage in order to identify the involved vehicle.

Meanwhile, the footage itself has gone viral after Bolinas’ family posted the video on social media. In a post by Shenie Porcadilla Barcelon, she said they are willing to provide a reward to anyone who can identify the driver of the involved pickup truck.

Barcelon also appealed for the suspect to surrender to the authorities./DGB, WDJ
