1-Care Partylist Rep. Carlos Roman Uybarreta recently called for public utility vehicles (PUVs) to provide itemized costs for fares, calling the current system “archaic” and “obsolete.”

“When we book flights, we see every detail of the airfare we pay for,” he said. “We should have the same for land PUVs.”

The legislator expressed optimism the proposal will be received well by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

“Secretary Art Tugade and I are apparently of the same school of thought on this issue,” Uybarreta stated.

Earlier this month, the partylist representative appealed to the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission to provide full transparency to consumers.

“There should be a breakdown of the cost components of any bunker fuel, diesel, natural gas, solar, geothermal, or wind energy used at the power generation stage,” he explained. “Unbundling the prices of all petroleum products is necessary so the public will not be in the dark and every centavo in fuel prices will be accounted for; they must know where their hard-earned money is going.”/WDJ
