AdMU beats UE in straight sets

Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) made quick work of the University of the East (UE) with their 25-15, 25-21, 25-16 win in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball season last Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Kat Tolentino top-scored for AdMU with 13 points on eight attacks, three blocks, and two service aces; while Madeleine Madayag added 11 markers.

AdMU surged to an 8-2 start in the opening set behind hits from Tolentino and Jules Samonte. Their lead grew to 16-7 midway in the set allowing Ateneo to easily close the set.

Consecutive hits from Tolentino early in the second set allowed AdMU to build an 8-3 lead. UE mounted a late fight back but Ateneo came up with clutch hits to build a 2-0 set lead.

UE kept step with AdMU early in the third with an 8-7 score but Ateneo slowly pulled away on hits from Tolentino and Madayag for a double-digit spread./ASC, WDJ
