Bacolod City took home the boys’ basketball title in the 2019 Batang Pinoy Visayas qualifying leg last Friday by defeating Cebu, 73-70, at the Iloilo Sports Complex. John Ordas led the Bacolod Tay Tung High School-backed side with 19 points, followed by Nathan Jundana scoring 18, and Mike Estelloso contributing 14.

“It was a hard earned win for us,” said Bacolod City head coach Dexter Dy. “We were down for most of the game – good thing our players never gave up.”

“John, Nathan, and Mike stepped up in the fourth,” he added.

Trailing after the first three quarters, Bacolod City went on a run in the fourth quarter behind Estilloso and Jundana, tying the game at 70-70. A baseline jumper from Ordas broke the deadlock with under a minute left. Thomas Pillado, who took over for a cramped Ordas, sealed the come-from-behind win.

Also part of the Bacolod City team were Heinzy Gabriel Demisana, Adrielle Binguan, John Ray Castiller, Marvin delos Santos, Dylan Despi, Josh Dignadice, CJ Juguan, and Rafael Ledesma./ASC, WDJ
