If approved, city would require P6M budget to fund new entitlement
The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod recently approved on its first reading an ordinance proposing P1,000 monthly allowances for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members. If approved, SK members in each of the city’s barangays, including secretaries, treasurers, and kagawads, would be entitled to the funding.
“The members of the Sangguniang Kabataan are the frontliners in advancing the welfare of the youth,” said Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito, who authored the ordinance. “They [deserve] to be compensated for all their selfless effort.”
In order to fund the new entitlement, the city government would need to set aside a P6 million budget in order to implement the policy.
In addition, SK members are also entitled to P10,000 in hospitalization and burial assistance./WDJ
