The Macau Black Bears turned to Filipino-American Mikh McKinney in their 116-103 stunner over San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the 2018-2019 ASEAN Basketball League on Wednesday night at the University of Macau Sports Complex.
McKinney, who was on fire from the start of the game, finished with 40 points, including five three-point conversions; while Anthony Tucker added a double-double with 25 points and 15 assists, and Ryan Watkins chipped in 20 points and 15 rebounds.
McKinney drained 12 points in the first quarter, pushing Macau to a 38-11 advantage. The Philippines continued to struggle through the second half as the Black Bears widened their lead to 65-40 at the half.
Alab Pilipinas attempted a run in the second half behind Renaldo Balkman, Peter John Ramos, and Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. but Macau was on-point and built its largest lead of 82-51.
McKinney hit his 40th point midway in the fourth quarter while the Philippines cut down their deficit to 13 points on a last minute run.
Balkman tallied a double-double for Alab Pilipinas with 33 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Ramos also submitted double-double with 19 points and 14 boards, and Parks contributed 18 points./ASC, WDJ
