A man was arrested yesterday morning after he yielded several firearms and illegal drugs when police raided his home in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect as Raymund ‘Mai-mai’ Parcon, a resident of Purok Sabes in the said barangay.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit head, Police Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Borromeo, said the court issued a search warrant against Parcon after receiving numerous complaints claiming he allegedly discharges his firearm every time he is inebriated.
Borromeo said Parcon has a long history of criminal offences including robbery, dealing illegal drugs, and carnapping.
He also said they have information that Parcon is also involved in a gun-for-hire group, which targets politicians in Negros. The raid was carried out in order to stop him from getting involved in such activity, particularly with the upcoming midterm elections in May.
Police recovered a loaded .38 caliber pistol, drug paraphernalia, three sachets of suspected shabu, and a sachet of dried marijuana from the suspect.
The market value of the seized illicit substances is estimated around P500.
Cops also seized suspected drug money amounting to P15,350.
Parcon faces charges for illegal possession of firearms and is detained at Police Station 4./DGB, WDJ
