Intermittent low water pressure expected through March 31
The Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation (MIB) began upgrading their Santa Barbara water treatment plant, which is expected to increase the water supply from 37 million liters per day to 50. The upgrade requires a shutdown of pumps, which serves as the main raw supply source.
With the upgrade expected to run until March 31, intermittent low water pressure will be experienced throughout the service area.
“We ask our water consumers and stakeholders to bear with us during this repair and rehabilitation period,” said MIB chief operating officer, Eng. Rolixto V. Jodieres, Jr.
The upgrade is expected to provide an increase water supply to areas serviced by the Metro Iloilo Water District.
“We ask for the support of our consumers in metro Iloilo as we work for the transformation of MIWD into a world-class water service provider,” said MIWD chair, Dr. Jessica Salas. “We also enjoin our local government units to support us in this initiative that aims to upgrade the quality of service of our water district.”
The project is part of a P2.8B joint venture agreement that works towards the rehabilitation, operation, management, and expansion of water production facilities./WDJ
