Lezo records 25% increase

According to data from the Aklan Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), incidence of deaths dropped by two percent in the province last year, with a total of 3,981 deaths recorded in 2018, down from the 4,056 in the prior year.

While the capital city Kalibo reported the most deaths at 1,786, which comprised of 44 percent of all deaths in the province; Lezo saw a 25 percent increase.

On the average, 11 people died per day in Aklan last year.

Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan said data was gathered from death certificates, which local civil registry offices compile at the end of every month./WDJ
