A reliable source within the Bacolod City government informed Watchmen Daily Journal over the weekend that Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan is reportedly no longer in the city and has fled overseas.
The newspaper tried contacting members of the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) but nobody was able to confirm the city official’s current whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said he has yet to receive any information indicating Tan left and strongly believes the city councilor is still in the city as he typically files leave prior to regular SP sessions.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, said they currently have no information on Tan’s location but affirmed police are still investigating the ambush on him and his wife that occurred last December, along with alleged links to illegal drugs.
The police official pointed out they would not be able to stop Tan from leaving as he has no cases pending before the court and no hold departure has been filed against the city councilor.
Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte accused Tan; former BCPO director, Police Colonel Francisco Ebreo; and four other high-ranking cops of links with illegal drugs.
Ebreo was immediately relieved of his post following the incident.
Duterte’s comments came a month after Tan and his wife were ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Alangilan./DGB, WDJ
