The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered world super flyweight championship Donnie Nietes and his challenger, fellow Negrense Aston Palicte, to submit purse bids as their respective camps failed to strike a deal for their upcoming rematch. A purse bid requires promoters to offer proposals on the amount the fighters will be paid for the bout.

Aside from Nietes and Palicte’s respective camps, other legitimate promoters can submit a bid with a minimum amount of $100,000, explained WBO Championship Committee chairman Luis Batista-Salas.

The actual purse bid will be held on February 28 with WBO President Francisco Valcarcel overseeing the matter, with Michael Aldeguer of ALA Promotions representing Nietes and Guy Taylor of Roy Jones Promotions handling Palicte.

After Palicte defeated Puerto Rican fighter Jose Martinez in an eliminator bout earlier this month in California, the win set up a rematch between the two Negrense fighters.

The two fought last September in a bout that ended in a split draw./ASC, WDJ
