More gold medals for Negros Occidental

Negros Occidental athletes continued to pick up gold medals at the 2019 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in Roxas City, Capiz, winning accolades in athletics, archery, swimming, and taekwondo.

Bernalyn Bejoy, who earlier won gold in the secondary girls’ 400-meter dash and 800-meter dash, more recently picked up another one in the 400-meter hurdles. Angel Ann Pranisa, Ann Katherine Quitoy, April Santos, and Chris Ann Dayanan also earned gold in various athletics events.

In archery, after taking gold in the secondary girls’ 30-meter and 400-meter distance competitions, Julianne Rongo won another archery gold, alongside Natina Okamoto, who won two; and Salvador Escalante.

Negrense swimmers Clarence Garcia, Benedict Sabido, Troy Castor, Jaime Sy, Ralph Emplamado, Jefran Ditchela, Daven Patrimonio, Kevin Calamay, Busty Jalandra, Matthew Pablo, Chrisella Los Banes, Alexi Uy, Sharese Medel, Anne Javelona, Alexi Cabayaran, Rianna Montelibano, Aliah Lopez, and Sophia Mallorca all won gold.

In other sports, Roem Ayuban, Carlo Miravilles, Faith Arguelles, Arianne Espida, Mary Alcantara, and Rica Antonares captured gold in taekwondo; Clarence Villaflor, Katrina Consing, Cheska Lomugdang, Lovic Javier, and Khylle Agura won gold in badminton; and Carmille Buhat won in billiards.

As of yesterday morning, Negros Occidental topped the elementary level medal count, with 78 gold, 57 silver, and 35 bronze medals; while taking second among secondary sports with a total of 83 gold, 84 silver, and 55 bronze medals./ASC, WDJ
