A motorcyclist was killed yesterday morning after being crushed by a 10-wheeler truck at Santo Niño Stop in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Police identified the fatality as Jason Juson, a resident of San Dionisio in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.

Police Station 2 (PS2) traffic investigators said the truck carrying construction materials, which was driven by 43-year-old Ronaldo Estrella, ran over Juson’s motorcycle claiming the vehicle’s brakes malfunctioned.

The truck’s porter also warned nearby traffic to stay clear as they did not have any brakes.

When the truck came to a stop, several bystanders scrambled to help Juson, who was trapped underneath the truck, while his motorcycle was mangled beyond recognition.

It took a few hours before Juson’s remains were pulled from the wreckage as rescuers were forced to call in a mobile crane.

Estrella immediately surrendered to PS2 and may face vehicular manslaughter charges./DGB, WDJ
