At least 47 families were displaced by a fire Tuesday afternoon in Barangay 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Based on information forwarded by the San Carlos City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO), the fire reportedly started around 4:00 p.m.
Emergency responders immediately raced to the site and managed to quell the blaze within an hour.
The affected families were immediately housed at the newly-opened Regional Evacuation Center in the city’s Barangay 2.
Authorities estimated damage at P150,000.
Following the incident, the local DRRMO and the city’s social welfare office immediately sought relief assistance for those affected.
Among the items requested include food, drinking water, blanket, toiletries, and cooking utensils.
Arson investigators, meanwhile, are presently investigating the cause of the blaze./DGB, WDJ
