The Negros Occidental provincial government will be participating in the 2019 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Iloilo City.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head Zeaphard Caelian said a composite team of rescue personnel from Bago City, Silay City, Talisay City, La Carlota City, and Cadiz City will be sent to Iloilo for the exercise.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is also expected to participate in the program, representing the province’s rescue capacity during times of emergencies and disasters.

The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Office of the Civil Defense-Region VI earlier identified five “impact areas” across the city. They include John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, SM City Iloilo, the Iloilo Business Park, Iloilo Mission Hospital, and City Hall./DGB, WDJ
