The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Inc. (AmCham) revealed they are considering the construction of a satellite office in Iloilo City, which they say will help investors doing business in the Philippines and the United States to create more jobs.
“We do not have a presence here in Western Visayas,” explained AmCham Executive Director Ebb Hinchliffe. “As one of the fastest growing areas in the country, it is time for us to look [at] what is here and see what we can do to support the companies doing business in the United States and the Philippines.”
“What we do is we promote business, we encourage companies to come in and invest to create jobs,” the AmCham official added. “Our focus is to get Filipinos many jobs and we are trying to get people out of poverty, and there are two ways to do that, and that is education and jobs.”
AmCham will be holding a meeting with American companies today at the Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo.
In response to the development, Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III said, “This will be of big help for businessmen, especially that you will help them expand their businesses or help them put up their own businesses.”/WDJ
